Once again, it's our nation's birthday, and I will celebrate this year by eating barbecue, watermelon, and going to work. Yes, I will celebrate my independence by actually earning a living (as opposed to last year). Luckily, my boss is not going to be there tonight, which means unfettered internet usage. Seriously, she's a stickler about only going to "approved" sites, which means anything other than news sites is forbidden.
Yes, I definitely wish that I was at home lighting off fireworks in the driveway with my wife, but by working this holiday, it gives me more leverage in asking for Christmas and Thanksgiving off.
I was able to talk to my landlord, and she's going to let me take care of our yard here. In an odd coincidence, when I left the house on Thursday to get an extra extension cord so I could finish the yard, the real lawn guys finally showed up. Of course, I did have to clean up after them, but now I won't have to worry about it, since I'll just be doing it myself.
Well, I do hope everyone has a good weekend. And hopefully I'll see you on here more often.

Sorry you had to work Jon but I guess it is like you said and better than last year when you were out of work. Hope the weekend turned out well and you and the Mrs. got to enjoy some time together. I also hope the little man is doing well. Take care.

I ended up working it as well. Must confess, the day had a hell of a different meaning to me this year.
